Exhibited at “The Automotive Engineering Exposition 2025”

From May 21 to 23, 2025, we exhibited at The Automotive Engineering Exposition 2025 held in Yokohama.

At the event, we showcased our new product QUANTITEXTURE™, launching on August 1, 2025, allowing visitors to experience the future of tactile evaluation.

What is QUANTITEXTURE™?

QUANTITEXTURE™ is a new tactile evaluation index that captures vibration information perceived by the finger as frequencies to generate data that closely reflects human tactile sensation.

KATO TECH offers two “surface property” evaluation methods:

  • The KES-SESRU/SE Roughness/Friction Tester, which evaluates friction felt by touch, and
  • QUANTITEXTURE™, which performs frequency analysis of tactile vibrations.

KES-F7 Thermo Labo and KES-QM

With growing focus on heatstroke prevention, evaluating the “coolness” of materials has become increasingly important.

We also introduced the KES-F7 Thermo Labo and KES-QM Warm/Cool Feeling Measurement Tester, which measure qmax—an indicator of contact thermal sensation.

Note: The qmax value was defined in the 1970s by Dr. Sueo Kawabata of Kyoto University, co-developer of KES™, as a metric to evaluate the contact coolness of fabrics. While various notations exist (Q-max, Q-MAX, Qmax, QMAX), “qmax” is the official term defined by standards.
