From September 7th to 9th, 2023, the 50th Textile Research Symposium, known as “TRS50,” was splendidly held in the Republic of Mauritius.
Our journey commenced with study sessions and deep dives into situational observations in Dubai before progressing to the symposium in the Republic of Mauritius.
In Dubai, we had the opportunity to visit local universities (Higher College of Technology, Zayed University), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Dubai Office, and received guidance on exploring local textile wholesalers and markets. This provided us with invaluable insights into the current state of the textile industry in Dubai, its rapid economic growth, and its significance in education.
These observations deepened our interactions among participants, leading to new discoveries and insights. Our investigation in Dubai proved to be a fruitful endeavor.
TRS50, hosted by the University of Mauritius, brought together researchers in the field of textiles from universities worldwide, including Japan. The symposium featured presentations, passionate discussions, and the exchange of ideas, resulting in fresh insights into textiles.
Following the symposium’s conclusion, we had the opportunity to visit local garment factories and engage in interactions with the Japanese Embassy, further enhancing our understanding of the textile industry and daily life in Mauritius.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported this event. In particular, we would like to express our deep appreciation to the organizers at the University of Mauritius and all those who contributed to the planning, execution, and guidance during our on-site exploration.
Through our participation in this symposium, Kato Tech reaffirms its commitment to supporting the advancement and prosperity of textile engineering. We look forward to continuing to contribute to the industry’s growth in the future.
